“So you’re coming now? Dude, I didn’t clean up yet. Why do you have to do this to me- couldn’t a week’s notice been done? Yeah. Alright then, I’ll see you in a few.” She said before flinging the phone back onto her pillow.
She turned to Pierce, “So- that was my cousin… and he’s on his way. Are you any good at cleaning?” She asked him smiling a bit. Although inside, she was stressing out because it was her cousin- and he hadn’t given her a notice. What was so hard about giving a notice?
She groaned and flopped backwards onto her bed, her head landing on her cell- not the smoothest of deals, “Ouch.” She muttered getting back up and literally jumping off the bed.
“So, Pierce, are you going to help or just sit on my bed wanting me.” She said, joking about the wanting part.

"Hmm..." He pretended to mull oevr the idea. "Well, the second -is- rather inviting- but I suppose I'll be kicked out. I'll hellp then." he grinned, getting off the bed.
Cousin. He thought, Good. Just cousins....
Suddenly; kissing cousins crossed his mind.
..... I hate my mind....
He followed her out the door and in the guest bedroom. "What first?"

She laughed. “Who said you’d be kicked out?” She asked, giving him a tempting look before looking around the house, “well- are you any good with cleaning windows?” She asked, going to her bathroom and returning with a rag and a bottle of windex. She tossed the rag at Pierce; the bottle followed, yet plopped on the bed instead of at him.
She went back into her bathroom and took out a duster thing, which made her want to put on her French maid costume for Halloween, but now was not the time to be playing dress up. She looked at the clock, “So- he should be here in like… 20 minutes or something, so that’ll give me enough time to dust and make the guest bedroom look nice.” She paused, “oh shit- I have to vacuum. Ugh, whatever, I’ll do that some other time.” She said, as she dusted off a few pictures of her family, a few more records, and a few untouched trinkets.
“So- why did you pick Bethel?” She asked Pierce trying to start some small talk.

He was completely done when she started to small talk.
His mind racked for a proper response; fear gripping him, suspicions coming to light. Did she know? Have a hunch? Anything?...
"Why not?" he countered, keeping any edge of defense out of his voice. He was a grade-A lier, of course- how do you think he got out of High School?

“Cause it’s boring here.” She answered, glancing at him, “I mean- why would anyone want to move to a place that has just snow?” She asked- now placing the duster in a small bin where apparently all the cleaning things went in.
She sighed, “I hate cleaning. Wanna just stop and pretend that we cleaned? I mean- the place looks good right?” She asked, looking around- it was true, besides the few bottles stacked near the sink, the magazines spread across the table, and a few pillows unfluffed- the apartment looked pretty darn good.
“No really- why would you want to move here? A girl possibly?” She asked, wondering if he was attached or not. From the looks of it, he wasn’t- but looks could prove to be deceiving. She jumped a bit as her cell rang again.
“Yeah, B. Not A, but B.” She said into the phone before hanging up.
“Sorry, doesn’t know if my apartment is an A or B.” She laughed, “So- tell me the story.” She said smiling.

..... Tell me the story.
Pierce never heard those words. He never wondered if it would be diferent if someone asked him that. He never thought it'd be easier if someone asked that.
Even his old friend [well, young friend] had never asked. She never touched the topic; despite that she knew it happened.
Maybe that was the problem- back in New York, people just knew it happened.
".... You wouldn't believe me." He said, turning his head away.
God; what a fucking drama queen...
He took a slight breath, trying to word it in his mind.
Yeah. How would he start out? When would he start at? Probably at age seven or so; but she didn't want his life sotry, he supposed.
Wait- just why was he thinking this much into it? She didn't ask about Brett. She asked why he came here. Now- he raised her suspicions. 'You wouldn't believe me'. Yeah- he just came to find some relative that were dead. He couldn't say that now.
Shit. He was screwed.

“Try me.” She said, but before he could begin the doorbell rang.
“The hell?” She asked, looking over the banister to see her cousin, Jake Fisher, standing outside the door- uniform and all. “Great- the Marine is here.” She said as a joke, Jake wasn’t a marine, he was a coast guard swimmer.
“Coming!” She yelled as he rang the door several more times. “C’mon with me, it might look weird that you’re standing in my bedroom.” She said to Pierce as she walked down the glass steps again.
“Jake-y!” She said yelled and flung herself at her cousin as she opened the door, who in reaction dropped his bags to hug his little cousin back.
“Hey Rox. Getting fat there?” Was his response, such a smart ass.
She in turn, punched him in the arm, “it’s all muscle bitch.” She said laughing as she lead him in. She turned to Pierce, “Pierce, this is my cousin Jake. He’s part of the Coast Guard.” She then turned to Jake, “Jake this is Pierce, he’s my…”
Jake didn’t give her time to finish as he stuck his hand out, “a new boyfriend? Finally Rox. I was getting worried about you and your safety.”
Roxanne couldn’t speak at the moment, she just met Pierce a few hours ago, and how could he be her new boyfriend. Not that she would mind if he was her boyfriend of course, but that was off record.
“Well, guest bedroom I’m guessing.” Jake said taking his bags up and leading himself to the same room he had stayed before.

Pierce felt just more tension at the word 'marine.' But that was all lifted as funny-boy-coast-guard-cousin came in.
Heh. Boyfriend...
"Yep," he slung an arm over Roxanne's shuders, "Definatly." He grinned at Jake as h walked up stairs.
"Nice guy." he decided, cooling off a bit more. He realized he hadn't moved his arm, and that his arm wasn't moving. It wasn't about to move, either.
"What now?" he asked.

Roxanne sighed, “Oh yeah- he’s my new boyfriend Jake.” She said wrapping her arms around him. When he left, she retreated her arms, “great. Now my cousin is going to think that we’re actually going out… and every time he comes here- he’s always asking if I have a boyfriend. You don’t mind pretending to be my boy for a while, do ya?” She paused, “Just to get him off my back, of course.”
Suure- just to get him off her back- that was complete call of bullshit. It was true, Roxanne was crushing on Pierce, but they had met a few hours ago, so she wasn’t going to go ahead and try to get with him. At least this way, she could get with him- and have it look like an innocent thing to do.
“Well that’s great!” Jake’s voice came from the open door of the guest bedroom, “Rox- you cleaned up. Nice.” He said walking out of the room.
“Yeah, just for you, Jake-y.” She said smiling a bit, “So what do you want to do since this is part of your two day vacation right?”
He nodded, “Well- I was going to go get a drink. But, I guess a cup of your chocolate wouldn’t hurt for now.”
She smiled, “mmk.” She went into the kitchen and left Pierce and Jake in the living area.
“So- you’re her boyfriend… wait, have we met before?” Jake asked, walking up to Pierce. He could swear that he noticed Pierce before, somewhere he had seen him.

Pretend. Sure. Yeah- that. "No problem!" he said confidently, now removing his arm.
He watched as the cousins interacted- he was about to excuse himself and leave when Jake spoke to him.
His heart raced. I have no doubt coast guard didn't hear about my 'murder' issue... he thought.
"Uh- I don't think so..." He said, racking his brain for images of this man, in case he had met him before. "Have we?"
He looked at his watch- his dull, 10 dollar watch. Shit. He didn't have to be at work till... Oh, tommorow? He looked back at Jake; just trying not to be suspicious.
